Prenuptial and Postnuptial Agreements

Northeast Indiana Prenuptial & Postnuptial Lawyers

If you have a meaningful amount of wealth or property and are looking to get married, it may be wise to consider a prenuptial agreement. Such an agreement can predetermine the outcome of many aspects of a divorce. Of course, you’re not planning on divorcing now, but life is complex, and you never know what the future holds.

A postnuptial agreement is an agreement between spouses wherein they decide the outcome of certain assets should they later get a divorce. It’s like a prenup, except you’re already married.

Prenuptial and postnuptial agreements are very technical and challenging. Courts often set them aside during a divorce proceeding and act as if it doesn’t exist. You must make sure several things occur in order to have your agreement held up in court. Please give us a call if you think a prenuptial or postnuptial agreement is right for you.
